Abdominal remodeling

Abdominoplasty or miniabdominoplasty, also known as “tummy reshaping”, is a surgical intervention aimed at removing excess abdominal skin and tightening it. This operation contours the abdomen and waist area. Abdominoplasty can be performed as a single operation or combined with other interventions such as liposuction, breast augmentation and breast lift. The purpose of abdominoplasty is to remove excess abdominal skin by pulling and tightening it. The end result achieved by abdominoplasty is an aesthetically more beautiful abdomen in terms of appearance, muscle tone and overall silhouette.

Abdominal remodeling surgery leaves a mark (scar) at the bottom of the abdomen which is not a concern as it is easily covered with clothing. During the abdominoplasty intervention, care is taken that the mark is positioned as low as possible so that it can be easily covered by intimate clothing (underwear) or bikini. The intervention lasts approximately 2-3 hours, varies from patient to patient and is performed under general anesthesia with the anesthetist present throughout the surgical intervention. At the end of the abdominoplasty operation, all incisions are closed very carefully, to achieve the best possible aesthetic result.

Pre-Operative Preparation

  • On the day you perform the consultation with the surgeon, you must inform the surgeon if you are allergic to any medication, as well as refer to the doctor if you are taking any medication for health reasons that may influence the performance of the surgical intervention;
  • A few days before the operation, you will perform a series of pre-operative examinations which inform the medical staff about your health condition before the operation;
  • At least two weeks before surgery, you must stop taking drugs containing Acetylsalicylic Acid (such as Aspirin, Vivin C, Cardiospirin, etc.) and stop taking oral anticoagulants. Discontinuation of any therapy due to surgery must be consulted in advance with your doctor who prescribed the therapy;
  • Smoking must be stopped at least two weeks before the intervention;
  • The patient must have taken a shower, remove gel or nail polish products the day before the operation, and not consume food or liquids at least eight hours before the intervention;
  • We recommend that patients wear comfortable clothes with buttons or zippers on the day of surgery.

After the operation

Patients are encouraged to walk the day after the tummy tuck procedure, this is done to prevent blood clots. People who perform this intervention stay in the hospital for two nights in order to be under constant monitoring by doctors. After discharge from the hospital, periodic check-ups at the clinic for the treatment of post-operative wounds are foreseen until the patient fully recovers. We suggest that patients resume normal daily activity two weeks after surgery.

Excessive physical activity or heavy weight bearing should be avoided for the first 3-4 weeks after the intervention, but can be gradually increased later if abdominal muscle strengthening has been done. The results of abdominoplasty and mini-abdominoplasty are stable over time if combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity. In order to maintain long-term results, the medical staff of the DaVINCI Clinic will suggest you to perform the Nutrigenetics test as well as a personalized diet that will improve your eating habits forever.
